From there began a business… She began making wine glass tags\, which slowly turned into beading. In 2009\, she began classes at Silvermine Art Guild in New Canaan\, CT. Becoming a talented goldsmith\, MGB Jewels by Monica Billeter took off. DESCRIPTION:Lesley Sager visits from Madison\, Wisconsin to share the story of Merry-Go-Strong (MGS)\, a non-profit organization she pioneered that works in partnership with women and communities in Kenya to expand their craft\, minds\, and resources. Hear how “the basket ladies” who participate in adult literacy programs have become artisans. MGS provides them with yarn and needles and encourages creative freedom.  By selling the baskets they make online and at pop-up shops\, they earn income for their families and communities. Sager will bring some examples of their creations and discuss how she and MGS have made an impact on the lives of women and girls in remote villages in Africa. \nVisit the MGS website for more information about the organization.

DESCRIPTION:Our first luncheon of the 2024-25 season will be held on Wednesday\, October 2nd at the River Course Ballroom. Doors open at 11:45 to allow for members to greet one another while enjoying a glass of champagne. Our guest speaker will be Sharon Graci\, Co-founder and Director of PURE Theatre\, an Arts\, etc. Program Partner.  Under Sharon’s leadership\, PURE Theatre has developed into one of the premier theatre companies in the Southeast. Sharon is responsible for programming and producing more than 80 Southeast Regional Premiere productions\, and 25 World Premiere productions and for developing multiple PURE programs that heighten PURE’s impact and amplify PURE’s position as a “community building theatre” (Charleston City Paper). Notable initiatives include PURE Lab\, the division of PURE responsible for developing new work\, and PURE Youth Companies\, PURE’s education arm serving students in SC’s Title 1 Middle Schools.

DESCRIPTION:The acclaimed Kiawah Art & House Tour is Arts\, etc.’s major fundraiser and is held annually in the spring. This self-guided tour features five homes\, each displaying unique architectural and design features\, impressive art collections and notable island views. \nTicket purchasers will need to pick up a wristband for entry beginning Tuesday\, April 2nd through Friday\, April 5th from 10 AM to 2 PM at the First National Bank branch office in Freshfields Village\, Kiawah Island (398 Freshfields Drive).  The tour booklet will be distributed with each wristband to guide the tour goer to the five houses. \nQuestions regarding tickets can be directed to tix@kiawahartsetc.org.
