College of Charleston Sunday Soiree Series

Details
Members might be interested in the College of Charleston Department of Music’s new concert program, the Sunday Soirée Series.
The one-hour concerts will take place almost every Sunday during the academic year at 3:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Simons Center for the Arts (54 Saint Philip St.). The afternoon series time will be more accessible to audiences, especially those of us who do not live on the Peninsula.
Saundra DeAthos-Meers is the new Chair of the Music Department—many of you know Sandy as CofC Director of Opera who has brought the department’s popular Children’s Opera to Johns and Wadmalaw Island schools for a number of years, partnering with Arts, etc. Or you may know her as a much in demand soprano, regularly performing with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and with the Kiawah Arts Council. Because Sandy has graciously shared her many talents with Kiawah over the years, she is well aware of some of the barriers that have prevented many residents outside the Peninsula from attending events at the College.
You will be able to choose among 23 concerts offering a wide array of genres and styles – from jazz to Latin American to classical music and everything in between – the series has something for everyone. And I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the cost: $14 for a general admission single ticket. See the full line up here.
The series’ season starts on Aug. 30, 2026, with the Faculty Showcase Kickoff concert featuring all roster music faculty members followed by a Series Kickoff Reception for those in attendance, and ends on April 25, 2027, with a celebration of the Department of Music’s graduating seniors.
From our friends at the Kiawah Arts Council.
